چکیده

Grape is one among the most delicious, refreshing and nourishing fruits of the world. It is one of the earliest fruits grown by man. The berries are a good source of sugars and minerals like Ca, Mg, Fe, and vitamins like B1, B2, and C. Grape has so many uses and is so unique that no fruit can challenge their superiority. Crop load is the most important factor affecting yield and cluster quality as well as vine vigor of both seeded and seedless varieties. Hence, an optimum canopy size and bunch number per vine are to be maintained for achieving better fruit Quality which warrants proper balancing between vigour and capacity. The pruning requirement of different varieties differs as per their growth behaviour. Therefore, variety-specific standardization of pruning is essential for any grape cultivars for harnessing potential yield and quality. In this view, it is essential to get scientific information on the pruning requirement of grapes. Pruning all the matured canes to fruit bud level, as adopted by local grape growers results in more exploitation of reserved food material leading to loss of vigour, quality and early setting of senility in vines. Heavy bearing of vines results in poor quality fruits with low TSS and high fruit acidity. key words: Canopy size, crop load, grape, pruning level, vigour.

Anatomical Study of Primary Bud Necrosis in Vitis vinifera L. cv. Askari in Winter Dormant Bud

Primary bud necrosis in grapevine is a physiological disorder observed in the compound buds. This study was conducted to investigate the anatomical changes in cv. Askari grapevine in winter dormant buds. Bud samples were taken from Askari grapevine at Sisakht vineyards, south-western of Iran. Compound buds were dissected and assessed under a binocular microscope at 10-40x magnification and a di...

The ameliorative effect of silicon and potassium on drought stressed grape (Vitis vinifera L.) leaves

The effect of sodium silicate (Si) and potassium (K) were investigated on the major antioxidant enzyme activities in two different grapevine cultivars (Vitis vinifera L., cvs Yezandai and Malinger Ramfi) under drought stress. The traits included superoxide dismutase (SOD, EC 1.15.1.1), catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6), peroxidase (POD, EC 1.11.1.7), guaiacol peroxidase (GPX, EC 1.11.1.7), ascorbate...

Influences of pre- and post-veraison cluster thinning treatments on grape composition variables and monoterpene levels of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Sauvignon Blanc

Grape composition plays important role for wine grapes in terms of wine grape quality. Besides, monoterpenes are a chemical class of compounds present in many highly aromatic Vitis vinifera L. cultivars belonging to Muscat family and some other special cultivars. One of these special grape cultivars is Sauvignon Blanc, and in this study, cluster thinning and its treatment times were used for a ...

Effects of N, Fe and Zn Nutrition on Vegetative and Reproductive Growth and Fruit Quality of Grapevine (Vitis viniferea L.)

This Research aimed to study on effect of foliar spraying with zinc (as zinc sulphate), nitrogen (as urea) and iron (as sulphate and chelated Fe) on growth parameters, quality of fruit, flower characteristics, chemical constituents and nutrients content of leaves on grapevine. Applied nutrients were zinc sulphate (Zn) of 0.0 and 1.5gl-1 and urea (N) at 0.0 and 5 gl-1 and Fe (1) control (low Fe)...
